Sarah + Dan – Connection Session

When Sarah + Dan first approached us for their Wedding Photography we asked them to write us the story of how they came to be…  They were both married over the weekend and decided to share that same story with their guests during the ceremony, everyone was in tears including myself… again.  So, as I share their pre-wedding Connection Session I’d like to let their story speak for itself – enjoy the story of these two special souls.

“Dan and I were supposed to meet.

The morning before I flew out to Hong Kong, the girl I was going with dragged me up to the bank in my pyjamas to let the bank know we were travelling. Then she sprung on me that we had to visit a guy she knew who just came home from a surfing trip the day before.
…I was in my pyjamas.
We were going to see this guy at Peninsula Surf, where he was the manager
…I was in my pyjamas.
We go into his store and before we even introduce ourselves we are talking like we have known each other forever.  We said goodbye, and I felt his eyes on me as I left the store.
…I was in my pyjamas.

The magic of the internet meant that Dan tracked me down that night and asked me on our first date. The entire trip away was filled with anticipation.
We have been inseparable ever since. Lovers, best friends, and in Dan’s case even my carer. Unfortunately the last few years for me have been plagued with chronic illness. But I have never been more blessed than to have a met a man who willingly takes me to Doctor’s appointments, brings me my meds, and even washes my hair when I need him to. He is such a special and giving person.”

The main thing I would tell someone about how Sarah and I met is, don’t underestimate the power of chance meetings. I still don’t know if I believe in destiny, but there definitely seems that there was a much bigger power involved when it came to meeting Sarah.

As soon as I saw Sarah I knew there was something special about her. I flirted shamelessly, and come to think of it I don’t even think I spent much time chatting to my friend. We introduced ourselves, had some banta, and then they left.  As soon as they left I said to the guy I was working with “man I should have got her number”. He kind of gave me a “Yeah whatever mate” and left it at that. Instead, I went out the back and stalked out her Facebook.

The first thing I did when I got home was add her. Almost instantly we started chatting and I didn’t waste any time in asking her on a date.  From that day since we have not gone one single day without talking. Everything is always just so easy with her, even when its hard. Our first date was the best I’ve ever been on in my life. The first kiss is something I will never forget. The first time I saw her is something Ill never forget.

She is not only the most beautiful and kind woman I know, but she is also the strongest and most deserving. As Sarah mentioned, she suffers from chronic illness that has plagued her life for the last few years and has stopper her living a completely normal life. I still don’t know how she does it all and keeps a smile on her face. There are some really hard days. Even some really hard months. We both know that life may be a constant fight for the rest of our lives, But we also know that we make a kick ass team together, and that nothing will ever break us, as long as we have each other.

Getting married is going to be fun. BEING married is going to be even better.”
